Protesters rise again in Iraq, street blockades, burning tires, clamoring for an end to sectarianism

Updated: Nov 19, 2021

ProtestBlog.org: Iraqis angry that the government is unwilling to cede to their demands and implement reform have turned up the volume on the protests that were temporarily distracted by hostilities between Iran and the US basically squabbling over Iraq. Iraq’s protesters want both Iran and the USA to let Iraqis govern themselves, and the protesters are made up of people from all sectarian backgrounds.

Protesters want a change of government in Iraq, something that is secular rather than sectarian but secular, respecting human rights, achieving authentic sovereignty with and through authentic democracy. They are courageously blocking streets throughout the country, mostly Baghdad and Najaf, and they claim to be ready to escalate the situation of there is no adequate response for the government.
