All doctors, nurses and health care providers to COVID-19 patients are on a go-slow for delayed salaries and bonuses promised them by the government. This, however, is the second time of government not meeting its portion of national commitment for health workers who at the COVID-19 war front. What is surprising is that these health workers some of whom have lost their lives to the pandemic are seeing top government officials enjoying themselves with public money showing no sign of human feeling. The go-slow is expected to continue until their 'just demands' are met. It can be recalled that these important risks takers faced similar situation during the 2014 2014 Ebola crisis in which some lost their lives. Sierra Leone is among the world's poorest countries but like some of her neighbors, corruption and unqualified people are mismanaging national resources in government.
While these health workers are risking their own lives, government officials are spending good times in beach resorts, expensive hotels, and long nights in clubs and bars.
If the doctors and health workers demands are not addressed by the government, the go-slow will see more death, not only COVID-19 victims but other patients will surely die.
