The Prime Minister of Sudan,Abdullah Hamdock is planning to reshuffle his 18 member political team in the midst of anti-government protests and demonstrations. This will be a fulfillment of a promise he made on June 29, 2020. The proposed reshuffle comes in the wake of ongoing protests for sound economic and political reforms under the September power sharing agreement with the military and other political stake holders. The army helped President Hamdock to remove Oman al-Bashir from power. Bashir ruled for over 30 years.
However, key issues agreed to in the power-sharing government have not been respected by Mr. Hamdock. These include a 3 year transition to pave the way for a free, fair democratic election under the supervision of the AU and the UN. Appointment of civilian state governors, creating a well balanced parliament. Presently many of the state governors are military personell.
Will the army agree to leave power now?
