Antipipeline Protesters Blockade the Legislature in British Columbia, Canada, Mid-February, 2020

Updated: Nov 19, 2021

ProtestBlog.org: Hundreds of people gathered at the legislature to support a group of Wet’suwet’en hereditary chiefs who are fighting the Coastal GasLink pipeline slated to run through their land in northeastern B.C. running straight across tribal lands. Several MLAs were blocked from entering the building resulting in a cancellation of that morning’s session.

Anti-pipeline demonstrators in Vancouver have also been periodically blocking traffic at random, even shutting down the Granville Street Bridge and protesting outside Coastal GasLink offices in the city. Other actions continue to take place across the country with numerous blocked bridges and roads, and even major rail lines.
