Kentucky Derby Day in Louisville, USA, Armed Protesters of all Colors, No Shots Fired, Yet!

Updated: Nov 19, 2021

Early September, 2020, Louisville, Kentucky, USA

ProtestBlog.org: Louisville, Kentucky was a tense place for the Kentucky Derby last Saturday, September 5, 2020. Hostility was palpable on both sides, with the presence of weapons most notable, carried by black as well as white activists. One gets a sense that some kind of new civil war is pending in the USA, mired in the historical, never ending, muddy waters of racial fear and hostility.

Hundreds of demonstrators faced off in downtown Louisville ahead of the Kentucky Derby on Saturday, September 5, 2020, guns and camouflage gear visible everywhere among both sides. BLM protesters sought to use the signature horse race to draw attention to the death of Breonna Taylor, a 26-year-old Black woman killed by police in her apartment there in March. Tensions escalated as armed, pro-Trump groups came into contact with BLM activists protesting Taylor’s death - in front of Louisville’s Metro Hall, according to the Louisville Metro Police Department.

The images speak for themselves and do not bode well for what is still to come. We fear that America will continue to pay a heavy price in blood for being such a gun loving culture, continuing to set a poor example for the rest of the world in this regard.
